This global slot machine manufacturer set very challenging energy saving goals for its spectacular employee benefits facility. Midwest’s biggest challenge was to provide thermal transmittance below a UValue of 0.205 BTU/(hour x °F x sf).
Midwest’s designers made significant changes to the frame assemblies. They replaced the extrusions with Insulbar® and PVC, filled the frame cavities with insulation and blocked warm air flow with additional gaskets. Through a trial-and-error design process, thermal simulations were rerun after each design feature was incorporated into the details until the overall UValue was reduced to 0.203 BTU/(hour x °F x sf).
